So, here are the best, most romantic beaches on Maui as we see them. We welcome your suggestions. So don't be shy, tell us which are your favorites and why and we will post your suggestion.

North Maui Beaches

Many of the northern beaches are best known for their exciting active sports like surfing, windsurfing, and kite-boarding. If you aren't into these sports hang out on the beach and prepare to be amazed while enjoying your Maui romantic getaway.

Ho'okipa Beach

Ho'okipa is a great place to enjoy the beach, but not swim because the exits are so small and currents are persistent making Ho'okipa Beach Park can be a dangerous place to swim. Super place for watching world-class surfers battle large powerful waves.

Kanaha Beach

Kanaha Beach is a local favorite offering volleyball areas, lifeguards, showers, picnic tables, and restroom facilities. This is a great beach for windsurfing and kiteboarding as well as being good for swimming.

Kite Beach

Sometimes called the World's best kiteboarding beach, it's a gorgeous beach with plenty of places to kick-back. Just be aware of where you flop down so you aren't in the way.

South Maui Beaches

Wailea Beach

Wailea Beach is close to all the restaurants and shops with restrooms and equipment rentals. It is a beautiful beach, but can be a bit crowded due to its proximity to the hotels and such. Still and all an enjoyable place to hang out and maybe take a paddleboard lesson.

Ulua Beach Park

Ulua is a super place to go if you are into snorkeling, or if you are interested in taking scuba lessons. This easy shore diving spot is well recognized by most of the South Maui scuba schools as being the easiest beginner dives in Maui.

Keawakapu Beach

This is a great beach relax and just plain enjoy, and if you are interested in photography, this is considered one of the best for getting great vacation shots. You should be able to get great pictures of the rocks and sunset here.

East Maui Beaches

Wai'anapanapa Park

This sure to become one of your favorite beaches as it is by most accounts the most picturesque of the beaches because of its striking black sand. This contrast of colors here is astounding. The vibrant greens, the deep blacks, and dazzling blues are awe inspiring.

Hana Beach

Hana is the hub of Hawaiian culture and activities. The beach is a great place to people watch and enjoy outrigger canoe races. This is a great place to stop and visit when in Hana.

Hamoa Beach

Hamoa is considered to be one of the best bodysurfing beaches on Maui. This beautiful beach is just off of Haneo'o Road. Hamoa Beach is always a favorite of those who visit it.

West Maui Beaches

Napili Bay

Napili Bay is one of the most beautiful bays in Maui. Situated next to the Napili Kai Resort, it has a steep incline into the water with pristine white sand. The water is beautiful and bright blue. Parking can be problematic unless you're staying at one of the nearby resorts. Facilities are also reserved to residents and guests of the resorts.

Kapalua Beach

One of the most beautiful beaches in Maui is Kapalau Beach. At the Kapalua Resort, this beach is the kind of tropical perfection you expect from Maui. It has great swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving all around this area.

D.T. Fleming Beach

Fleming is a great place, where people just hang out, go bodysurfing, swim, cook good food, in short just enjoy life. It's beautiful and welcoming beach to spend quality time on.

Romantic Things to See and Do on Maui

There are of course many other things to see and do on your Maui romantic getaway other than just spending time at the beach or playing in the water. So, let's take at look at a few other options available.

Thrilling Activities

Biking in Maui - I think that most agree, after they have done it, that going up Haleakala before the sun is up to catch the glorious sunrise then coasting back down is hard to beat for shear beauty and peace. The views all along the way are truly magnificent.

Ziplining - Ziplining provides such a rush that some never seem to get enough. On Maui there is the Haleakala zipline and the Kaanapali zipline. Each is uniquely enjoyable in its own way. The Haleakala line rushes over and through forest tree lines. The Kaanapali line zips over trees, while giving you incredible ocean views.

Relaxing Activities

Naturally not everyone wants to be active all of the time, so here are some things you can do on your Maui romantic getaway that move at a slower, more relaxed pace.

In Lahaina - A favorite activity is to go shopping along Front St., of course, while shopping, you will work up a terrible hunger and thirst, so take a break and at one of the waterfront restaurants for some great food and adult refreshment, and, if you can't bear to be away from the water, you can always take a Whale Watching Tour.

In Kihei - Much of the action takes place along S. Kihei Road. Here is where you will find dining, shopping, and entertainment opportunities. But, much of the action, as is to be expected, happens on the water. You can rent kayaks and surfboards at Kihei Surf Shack, there is boogie boarding as well.
